Growing up, Popeye was always a cartoon I loved. I remember going to the store with my mom and asking her to “please buy the Popeye spinach”…I was a weird kid.
By the age of 7, I was making huge salads for my dinners and by 10, I was the one cooking family dinner. All of which paid off, I was a healthy and active child who loved to workout.
Fast forward to college, everyone started asking me for workout advice so I became a trainer. Training was fun, something I could do while still in school and something I was good at. But I wasn’t until after college that I saw how what you eat makes all the difference. I ate junk, didn’t workout and drank every weekend (those mid 20s will get ya lol) and as a result I gained over 30lbs in a year.
I went from very muscular, very low BMI to having a beer gut! I became depressed and ashamed of my body…. so I went back to lifting. I was able to gain some muscle but I still had “The Gut.”
I started to feel comfortable and then it happened again; more being lazy, more eating junk, more drinking…. another year, another 30lbs. By this point, I have gained almost 70lbs since graduating high school!!
Things had to change. I went back to what I knew, training. I started training again full time and working out regularly but I still had a persistent “pooch.” That’s when I started researching nutrition more and more. I knew how to do it the bodybuilding way but that wasn’t where I was at anymore. I just wanted to be lean and healthy. And the more I looked at, the more I didn’t know where to turn.
Then I came across the Precision Nutrition certification. I originally wanted to get certified to help my career as a trainer but after learning the program, I am switched to nutrition whole-heartedly.
I know that nutrition is the biggest hurdle for most people; it was for me. But by following this program, I have been able to see the body that I have dreamt about for so long. Now it’s my mission to help others do the same. So come on, join me and get ready for an even better version of yourself!
